Replacement Cottage Built Without a Permit in Carling Township

Carling council is weighing a decision on whether a cottage built without proper permitting will be allowed to stand. The council will soon declare a decision on a proposed zoning bylaw amendment that would allow a controversial cottage to stand, despite not meeting setback requirements. If the amendment is not granted, the structure will need to be relocated to the required 20-metre setback.

This unfortunate situation on an island just north of Franklin Island highlights the need for property owners and contractors to understand and comply with planning regulations. GBA fully supports strict compliance with planning regulations to preserve the integrity of official plans and zoning bylaws. Read more here.
