Boating? There's an App for That
There are some great apps out there that will help you navigate our waters. If you are a boater, here are a few great apps that GBA recommends to help you brush up on the rules, master different boating techniques, and make your next trip as safe possible:
- BetterBoater – from the Canadian Safe Boating Council, this app has everything you need to keep you safe on the water including a digital, searchable version of Transport Canada’s Safe Boating Guide and a comprehensive video library full of great boating tips and additional safety information on a variety of boat types and boating scenarios. There are also interactive features to connect you with others in the boating community to share tips and information on boating and boater safety.
- Discover Boating – from the National Marine Manufacturers Association, this app is designed to keep you, your friends and family safe when you’re out on the water, this app has great information, tips and tools you need for boating safely in Canada.
- weather2boat – you’ll find the marine weather forecast for your launch point and destination plus all the key information you’ll need for your boating adventure in this app from the Canadian Safe Boating Council.
- what3words – the new standard in search and rescue allowing 911 responders to pinpoint exactly where you are, and direct help. A fantastic search and rescue tool to have in remote areas where signal is limited and on vast waterways.
