Georgian Bay Biosphere is Hosting a Lands & Waters Gathering

Georgian Bay Biosphere invites you to the Stockey Centre in Parry Sound on November 29th & 30th for their State of the Bay: Lands & Waters Gathering. Take a deep dive into  Enjoy speakers, performances, and panel discussions on biodiversity, what climate change means for the region, and how we can all work together to care for the lands and waters.

There is also an Indigenous Art Exhibit and Sale on November 29th, from 11:00am – 9:00pm in the main lobby of the Stockey Centre.

Georgian Bay Forever is Recognized as One of the Top 100 Charities in Canada

GBA wishes to congratulate Georgian Bay Forever on being recognized as one of the Top 100 Charities in Canada by Charity Intelligence. GBF has been recognized as a 5 Star charity after a rigorous vetting process that scrutinized GBF’s demonstrated impact and fiscal responsibility.

Georgian Bay Land Trust is Hosting Bayscapes

Georgian Bay Land Trust is hosting a two-part event celebrating art, community, and the conservation of Georgian Bay wilderness. The Bayscapes auction, featuring 70+ amazing Georgian Bay paintings, photographs, items, and experiences, will take place online from October 27th – November 4th. The Bayscapes party takes place on November 3rd from 7-10pm at the Henderson Brewery in Toronto.

Proceeds from both events support the Georgian Bay Land Trust’s work to protect nature on Georgian Bay. Tickets to the party and more details are available at gblt.org/bayscapes and follow @gblandtrust on Instagram to preview the amazing art!

 

Muskoka Watershed Council has Released a New Report Card on the Area’s Waterways

The Muskoka Watershed Council has released a new report card assessing Muskoka’s watershed health. The report includes 14 key takeaways, including that calcium is declining in the lakes, toxic algae blooms are becoming more common, and Lake trout may be particularly at risk from climate change.
