Microplastics Nominated as a Chemical of Mutual Concern
At the December meeting that GBA attended on the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement, it was confirmed that Microplastics have been nominated as a Chemical of Mutual Concern (CMC), under Annex 3 of the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement (GLWQA) opening the door for more action by government to reduce their release and impact.
Georgian Bay Forever and GBA have been working on specific action that Ontario should take – eliminating the use of unencapsulated dock foam for new docks and repairs, and legislation to require filters in clothes washing machines.
