Swimmer Seriously Injured in Boat Crash on Skeleton Lake

A 39-year-old man from Niagara Falls is facing charges after a boat crash on Skeleton Lake in Muskoka, which left a 22-year-old swimmer from Georgina with life-threatening injuries. According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the incident occurred on Saturday, July 19, at around 5 p.m. The swimmer was airlifted to a Toronto hospital after being pulled from the water by bystanders.
The boater was arrested and charged with:
  • Impaired operation causing bodily harm
  • Failing to stop at an accident causing bodily harm
  • Refusing to comply with a demand
  • Failing to comply with a release order
The OPP is continuing to investigate this incident, which highlights the dangers of impaired boating.
