Provincial Funding Saves Central Ontario Snowmobile Trails
In a move to balance its budget, the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) was preparing to cut 4,500 km of trails—including a key stretch in Port Carling—until the province stepped in with a $3.9 million investment. Combined with $1 million already earmarked for infrastructure, the funding will allow the OFSC to groom and maintain its full 30,000 km network this coming season.
This injection will give a boost to tourism and help local economies, and it’s the first step in a long‑term plan to keep Ontario’s world‑class trail system sustainable for years to come.
Over the next few weeks, clubs will be hard at work on trail prep, signage, pre‑season grooming equipment maintenance, and securing land‑use permissions. As permissions are secured, the OFSC Interactive Trail Guide will update in real‑time, giving riders a live view of which segments are ready to ride. The OFSC gets the bulk of their funding from permit revenue. you can buy your 2025/26 season permit here.
