Message to GBA Association Presidents - November 2013
The following message was sent by Sue Grundy, President of the GBA, on November 23rd to all of the GBA Asscociation Presidents.
It has been seven months since the International Joint Commission sent the two federal governments their advice on water levels in the Great Lakes. We were very pleased at that time and hopeful that action would be forthcoming. Then came Senate scandals on our side of the border and government shutdown south of the border. The IJC advice seems to have been sidetracked. GBA feels that it would be timely for us and our members to connect with the governments and remind them that their constituents are monitoring this situation and expecting government action. To this end we sent the following letter to Ministers Baird and Clement with a cc to Ministers Aglukkaq (Environment) and Raitt (Transport). The sample letter is available here.
We hope that others will send a similar message to these same Ministers and to the Members of Parliament or Congress who directly represent them. Email addresses for elected officials in both countries can be found through sources posted on the GBA website (under the Water – Political Action Plan tab).
