February 16th Water Levels Report
Halfway through the month, precipitation to each Great Lake is 35% or more above average for February.
Lake Michigan-Huron is approximately the same level as it was a month ago, is 4 inches above last year’s level, and is projected to rise 1 inch over the next 30 days.
Lake Superior’s outflow through the St. Mary’s River is predicted to be above average in February. Lake Michigan-Huron’s outflow into the St. Clair River and the outflow of Lake St. Clair through the Detroit River are projected to be above average.

This satellite image from Saturday Feb 16th shows the North Channel, Bay of Islands and McGregor Bay areas completely covered by ice, extensive ice coverage all along the shoreline down to Honey Harbour and a large increase in coverage out in the Bay from last week. The south and west shorelines are largely obscured by cloud cover, but there does appear to be some ice coverage building there as well.
