GBA Asks MECP to Move Ahead on Dock Foam Regulations
The legislation to ban unencapsulated dock foam from being used in new dock construction or repairs was enacted in May 2021, and the regulations were supposed to go into effect on May 2023, but the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) has delayed the process. Meanwhile unencapsulated dock foam can still be applied and is being used in Port Severn, for instance, for the construction of floating homes. We need to take steps to stop this ongoing pollution and reduce plastics in our lakes and rivers.
GBA has written to Minister Piccini asking for action to be taken on this file. Read the letter here.
