June 29th Water Levels

Overall, precipitation in the Great Lakes basin has been below average in June, but the vast majority of the basin is expected to see thunderstorms this weekend. All of the Great Lakes continue to be above their long-term average levels for June. Lakes Michigan-Huron, St. Clair, and Erie are 2 to 5 inches above what they were at this time last year. Lakes Superior, Michigan-Huron, and St. Clair are 2 to 3 inches higher than they were a month ago and Lake Michigan-Huron is projected to remain at its current level during July. Lake Superior’s outflow into the St. Marys River and Lake Michigan-Huron’s outflow into the St. Clair River were above average in June.
