September 7th Water Levels

Temperatures were well above average across the basin this past week as hot and humid conditions persisted for multiple days. In the coming week, expect temperatures to be closer to average for this time of a year. A cold front passed through the basin on Thursday and that will bring cooler temperatures and less humid air across the region.

All of the Great Lakes water levels are currently above their September long-term average water levels and Lake Michigan-Huron is above last year’s levels by 1 inch. In the last month, Lake Michigan-Huron rose by 1 inch.

In the next month, levels are forecasted to decline on all the lakes. Lake Michigan-Huron is forecasted to fall by 3 inches.

Lake Superior’s outflow through the St. Mary’s River and Lake Michigan-Huron’s outflow into the St. Clair River are projected to be above average in September.
